Our Philosophy

Our preschool follows the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori.

We believe that the child thrives in an environment which includes multiage groupings. Montessori learning materials and furniture are child sized and meticulously arranged in an aesthetically pleasing environment. Our program fosters and encourages the “Love of Learning”. We have created an environment that is rich in possibilities and unlimited potential.  The children are introduced to appropriate social behaviors, grace and courtesies, and academics in this wonderful environment.

We are trained as Montessori teachers and committed as individuals to observe each child’s behavior and interests. We have prepared our classrooms so that they reflect each individual interests and needs in all areas of development. We believe that each child is born as a unique individual. We believe it is the opportunities of exploration that help to guide the child’s development and inspire his/her natural curiosities. As the children show interest in language/reading, geometry, math, cultural studies and science activities are presented. These academics are introduced and are a consequence of our activities in our class.

Montessori classes recognize that children learn through their senses. Children develop their cognitive powers, through direct experiences, seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and movement.  It is our job as teachers to provide as many interesting experiences as possible and to be mindful of each child’s learning style.

We aim at nurturing a positive, supportive community spirit which will guide families through life. We are all an integral part of the world community. Our goal is to create a community where children can observe and practice social skills, conflict resolution, and community building. Our goal is to encourage the children to engage the world as active citizens and successful leaders.

Our food activities are set up to encourage independence and interest in cooking or preparing food.
